A winter cover is a specific tarpaulin installed on the pool at the end of the season. It protects the water from debris and plants, limits algae growth by blocking light, and preserves the pool structure and equipment from frost and bad weather. There are several types: opaque tarpaulins or winter mesh, compliant with safety standards or not.
Yes and no! It is considered a safety device as long as it complies with the NF P 90‑308 standard. At APF Pool Design we offer both versions, opaque or filtering. You will find on our page the different models, including those validated as 'safety'.
Generally, it is recommended to install it when the water temperature drops between 12 °C and 15 °C, before the first frosts. At this temperature, the development of algae and bacteria slows down, making it easier to preserve the water during winter.
